How to Live a Meaningful Life

Psalm 90:12 New King James Version (KJV)

12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

We are given twenty-four hours in each day to live with purpose and expectations. Our days on earth are short, therefore, enjoy your life. Focus on those things that you can control, love honestly, laugh often, delight yourself in the work of your hands “Live!”

Psalm 90:14 King James Version (KJV)

14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.

To gain the most of our time here on earth we must value the time that we have been given. King David’s prayer is a revelation to the soul. Reflections of God’s mercy is reason enough to live your life with joy and intentionality.

An awakened consciousness informs us of our deepest truth.

I know there is a tendency for humanity to believe we have forever here on earth. We must become conscious and value the time we have on earth. The truth is our life is like a vapor that exists for a little while and then disappears (James 4:14, KJV). I have sat at the bedside of terminally ill patients who often want someone to listen to them as they reflect on their life. The moment feels still as there is an obvious need to share their journey. A common concern of most of these patients has been whether they made the most of their time on earth. I listen to their regrets and laugh as they think of “the good ole days.” These precious memories have taught me that time is fleeting, there is brevity to life and we must become more present in our lives. Be intentional and value the time we have with our loved ones. “Live!”

Psalm 102:11 New International Version (NIV)

11 My days are like the evening shadow; I wither away like grass.

My father often told me that “time marches on!” I hold his words close to my heart; he was preparing his children to live conscious of time. Such beauty he imparted before leaving earth. It took me a while to embrace the wealth of his words. Today, I value my time intentionally. I love earnest, cherish my time with my mom as she gracefully embraces over eight decades. The priceless moments we share are intentional and meaningful. Let me encourage you to make peace in your life, enjoy those you love, try something new, open your business, author that book, open your heart to love again or love more, push yourself to live your best life. Remember, days are like the evening shadow; we will all wither away like grass. So, live!

Listen to what Jesus says

John 10:10 King James Version (KJV)

10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Here are a few questions to ponder:

How do you value your time on earth; are you living a meaningful life?

What can you do to value your time on earth and be intentional to discover your best life?

What does a valued and meaningful life mean for you?

Remember a life a part from our Sovereign God will always be meaningless.
