Are You Saved?

2 Corinthians 6:2

New International Version

For he says, “In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.”[a] I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.

Are You Saved?

My mind has been burdened with the thought of salvation. It leads me to ask the question: Are you saved? Life itself has prompted me to consider this question and the significance it bares in everyone's life.

I have always loved God, yet I did not understand salvation. Somehow, I thought being a good person would be good enough. That helps, but that is not enough. We have a decision to make concerning our salvation. Jesus Christ paid for our salvation; we decide to receive this beautiful gift.

I need to ask this question, as I contemplate my observations. I can see the pain in people eyes, looking into life trying to find a place of peaceful contentment. I know I have been there. Therefore, I am trying to share my truth to circumvent the pain stake of agony that awaits those who seek the influences of this life to fill the voids embedded in our surface floor. The soul has sustained afflictions, like hot lava that create an interior mark. I call it an internal hemorrhage, where the blood like a fountain flows to an overflow.

Have you ever billowed out the most gut-wrenching cry, pleading for God to hear you and answer? I sought the Lord from the pit of helplessness when the light that once beam from the windows of my soul became filled with debris so thick that I could no longer see the traces of my existence. Longing for a better way I relied on what my grandmother taught me. She told me to call “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus.” I learned to call out in spirit and truth. Yearn for the father’s hand like our life depends on breath to sustain each day.

Are you saved?

Look at what is happening in India right now (Gamio & Glanz, 2021). Bodies are being burnt because the death rates are so alarming. Generations are perishing as the thief call Covid invades the continent with a virus that did not exist 24 months ago. Can you hear me, do you understand my concerns? Are you saved?

Matthew 24:36

English Standard Version

“But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son,[a] but the Father only.

Jesus will return and no one knows the day nor the hour. There is life after death for those who are saved from eternal damnation. I think of a rich man in the bible stories who died with great wealth, yet his soul was lost. The parable describes him as a shrewd manager who had great faith in his wealth and self. This man did not live a life that would please God and never received salvation.

Luke 16:23

King James Version

And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

The parable describes afterlife consequences for a man who perish without salvation, his worldly wealth could not quench the torment that he received in hell. He was given an opportunity in his life to receive salvation. His pleasures on earth brought a contentment that does not exist after death. He rejected his salvation on earth and now realize that indeed he needs God!

What will you choose on earth?

As we celebrate Memorial Day this year, we reflect on the lives of those that have preceded us in death. I can only pray they each died in the Lord! Earnestly, I ask, “Are you saved?”

If you are not certain about your salvation, here are important steps you can take to gain a blessed assurance:

  1. If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.(Romans 10:9 NIV)

  2. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:10 NIV)
